Winter, 1543, 8vo. - HUGO, Cuartes Lovts, Canon of the Premonstratensian order, a Doc- tor of Divinity, Abbé of Etival, and titular Bishop of Ptolemais ; died 1735. He is a voluminous Author, but his Works, owing to their subjects, are lit- tle known in this country; they are entitled,—Vie de St. Norbert Fonda- pteur des Premontrés. 1704, 4to.—Traité Historique et Critique dela Mai- son de Lorraine. 1711, 4to. This being a work of some boldness, the name of the author, and. of the place where it was printed, were assumed ; the former being professedly Balcicourt, the latter Berlin, instead of Nanci. The author was however traced out, and fell under the censure of Parlia- ment, in 1712.—Reflexions sur les deux Ouvrages, concernant la Maison de Lorraine. 1713.
