Description

A litle book of warme beere, shewing by many reasons that beer soe qualifyd is far more wholesome that that which is drunk cold. Printed at Cambridge, 1641. An abridged MS. version: followed by two sermons by other authors, the last incomplete.

The two sermons are: Swan (John) [ -1671] Profano-mastix. Concerning the respect that we owe to God and His house in outward worship... 1639 (11. 8-19). [S.T.C. 23513.] Mede (Joseph) [1586-1638] The reverence of God's house: a sermon. 1638 (11. 19-24). [S.T.C. 17769.] The end is wanting.

The title of the original printed work is 'Warm beer: or a treatise wherein is declared by many reasons, that beer so qualified is far more wholesome than that which is drunk cold. With a confutation of such objections that are made against it; published for the preservation of health. Cambridge. Printed by R. D. for Henry Oveton, and are to be sold at his shop entering into Pope's Head Alley out of Lombard Street in London. 1641'. [S.T.C. (Wing) W.27.] The title as given above is from 'In praise of ale' by W. T. Marchant. London 1881, p. 600. The B.M. Catalogue entry of this work is under 'W. (F.)', from the Preface which is stated to be initialled 'F.W.'
