![- 4 • Deaths Deaths from all causes corrected for transfers numbered 466 giving a death rate adjusted for age and sex distribution of 10.8 per 1,000 estimated population. As in all recent years, Diseases of the Heart and Circulation continued to be the chief cause of death and were responsible for 40.34 per cent of the total deaths and 43*56 per cent of deaths between the ages of 45 and 65 years. Cancer remains the second most important cause of death in both groups. Cerebral Vascular Disease was the third most important cause of death with Respiratory Disease next. The relative importance of the various causes of death is shown below as a percentage of the total deaths and the same is shown for deaths in the age group 45 to 65 years. Of the 146 deaths, at all ages, due to this cause, 84 were males and 62 females; whereas, of the 38 deaths between the ages of 45 and 65 years, due to this cause, 30 were males and 8 females. Of the 97 deaths due to Cancer, 25 (l9 males and 6 females) were due to Cancer of the Lung.
