    iEther, B.P. Dose, 20 to 60 minims. Preparation—Mistura Ammonise c. JEthere. jEther Aceticus. c2 H5, c2 h3 o2. A volatile liquid prepared by the action of sul- phuric acid on acetate of potash and strong Alcohol. This Ether is an exceedingly fragrant, limpid liquid. It has a sp. gr. of 0-890, and boils at 164° F. It is decomposed by alkalies. Preparation—Vapor JEtheris Acetici. Aldehydum Dilutum. c2 h4 o2. A volatile liquid produced by the oxydation of Alcohol. Dilute Aldehyde is a limpid, colourless, and transparent fluid of charac- teristic ethereal odour, and should contain 15 per cent, of pure aldehyde. It mixes in all proportions with water and rectified spirit. It is neutral to test paper, but acquires acidity, by exposure to air, from the production of Acetic Acid. It must therefore be kept in well-closed bottles. Preparation—Vapor Aldehydi.
