Sir John Banks, to whom it is dedicated, was impressed by his remarks and expressed a desire for a more systematic examination of these coasts to be made. In consequence, Flinders was given the command of the Investigator, which was to make history. Mention of this tract is made in Historical Records of N.S. Wales, Vol. 4, p. 300, and in the Dictionary of National Biography, but THERE IS NO RECORD OF A COPY EVER HAVING BEEN OFFERED FOR SALE. Inquiry at the Admiralty has satisfied us that no maps were issued with the tract. The Admiralty authorities have kindly given permission for the originals to be photographed, tf the buyer so desires. 93 The Lire of Capt.
