![The number of notifications of live-births received from Medical Practitioners and Midwives during the year amounted to 620. This figure read in conjunction with the number of first visits of children under one year (see table above) shows that 80% of the babies born were brought to the clinics. This figure may be regarded as being satisfactory. Ante-Natal Centre. Weekly Sessions are now held at four Centres, as follows;— 1) Health Department, Orchard Street, Neath; 2) Clinic Cefn Parc, Skewen; 3) Clinic, Addoldy Road, Glynneath; 4) Clinic, Mary Street, Seven Sisters. This total attendances during the year being :— {a) Total number of expectant mothers who attended—253. {h) Total number of attendances by expectant mothers—646. as compared with 144 and 388 respectively for the year, 1937. The number of cases admitted to the West Glamorgan County Hospital through the Department during the year was as follows:— Complicated cases of pregnancy . . 27 Home conditions unsuitable for confinement 52 Puerperal Fever — Puerperal Pyrexia — 79 Other Facilities under Maternity and Child Welfare Schemes. Arrangements are in existence for the treatment of tonsils and adenoids^ dental and ophthalmic cases, by the appropriate officers of the Glamorgan County Council, a scale of charges being fixed between the two authorities. The number of cases treated during the year was as follows;— Tonsils and Adenoids 11 Eye Treatment 4 Dental Treatment : (a) Expectant Mothers 103 [b] Children 37 Cod-Liver Oil. During the year.
