![THE Committee of Visitors of the Hants County Lunatic Asylum have to report, in the execution of the duties imposed upon them by the Lunacy Act of 1853, that, during the past year, they have carefully attended to the state and condition of the Asylum, its sufficiency for the proper reception of the Lunatics, for whom it has been requisite to provide accom¬ modation, as well as the management of such Asylum, the conduct of the Officers and Servants thereof; and the care and treatment of the Patients admitted therein. General Statement. At the last Meeting of your Committee, held at the Asylum, on the 27th of December, 1856, the Total number of Patients, then in the Asylum, was 398:—namely, 192 Males, and 206 Females, being an increase of 62, as compared with the number of Patients in the Institution at the termination of the year 1855. They were composed as follows:— Males Females Total Chargeable to Parishes in the County 128 .. 153 .. 281 ,, to County 8 .. 4 12 ,, to Boroughs in County .. 30 .. 34 .. 64 „ to Parishes and Boroughs] not in County ..
