In one large and handsome imperial octavo volume of 650 pages, strongly bound in leather, with raised bands; with sixty-four beautifixl plates, and numerous wood-cuts in the text, containing in all nearly 200 large and beautiful figures. $7 00. To the physician's library it is indispensable, while to the student, as a text-book, from which to extract the material for laying the foundation of an education on obstetrical science, it has no superior.—Ohio Med. and Sarg. Journal. When we call to mind the toil we underwent in acquiring a knowledge of this subject, we cannot but envy the student of the present day the aid which this work will afford him.—Am. Jour, of the Med. Sciences. We will only add that the student will learn from It all he need to know, and the practitioner will find It, as a book of reference, surpassed by none other.— Stethoscope. The character and merits of Dr. Eamsbotham's work are so well known and thoroughly established, that comment is unnecessary and praise superfluous. The illustrations, which are numerous and accurate, are executed in the highest style of art. We cannot too highly recommend the work to our readers.—St. Louis Med. and Surg. Francis CondiE, M. D., author of a Practical Treatise on the Diseases of Chil- dren,'' &o. With one hundred and ninety-four illustrations. In one very handsome octavo volume of nearly 700 large pages. Extra cloth, $4 00; leather, $5 00. In adapting this standard favorite to the wants of the profession in the United States, the editor has endeavored to insert everything that his experience has shown him would be desirable for the American student, including a large number of illustrations. With the sanction of the author, he has added, in the form of an appendix, some chapters from a little Manual for Mid wives and Nurses, recently issued by Dr. Churchill, believing that the details there presented can hardly fail to prove of advantage to the junior practitioner. The result of all these additions is that the work now contains fully one-half more matter than the last American edition, with nearly one- half more illustrations; so that, notwithstanding the use of a smaller type, the volume contains almost two hundred pages more than before. These additions render the work still more com- plete and acceptable than ever; and with the excel- lent style in which the publishers have presented this edition of Churchill, we can commend it to the profession with great cordiality and pleasure.—Cin- cinnati Lancet. Few work? on this branch of medical science are equal to it, certainly none excel it, whether in regard to theory or practice, and in one respect it is superior to all others, viz., in its statistical information, and therefore, on these grounds a most valuable work for the physician, student, or lecturer, all of whom will find in it the information which they are seeking.— Brit. Am. Journal. The present treatise is very much enlarged and amplified beyond the previous editions but nothing has been added which could be well dispensed with. An examination of the table of contents shows how thoroughly the author has gone over the ground, and the care he has taken in the text to present the sub- jects in all their bearings, will render this new edition even more necessary to the obstetric student than were either of the former editions at the date of their appearance. No treatise on obstetrics with which we are acquainted can compare favorably with this, in respect to the amount of material which has been gathered from every source.—Boston Med. and Surg. Journal. ^ There is no better text-book for students, or work of reference and study for the practising physician than this. It should adorn and enrich every medical library.—Chicago Med. Journal.
