Description

Shows flower heads of yellow at intervals to top of tall stem. Roughly ovate leaves. Contains secoiridoids and has been used as a powerful, bitter tonic to revive the body after chronic illness, to aid digestion and stimulate the appetite. May elevate blood pressure. A common ingredient in bitter liquers. Has been used as a substitute for quinine in the treatment of malaria.
