    243. During almost any acute illness the mind may become so clouded that afterwards the patient remembers scarcely anything that happened in the course of his disease. 244. In all nervous diseases sensory sym- ptoms are apt to be fugitive. 245. Convulsions are often the sole symptom of brain-disease of all kinds in infants. 246. So little is known about the anatomy of anesthesia, that, unless it be a hemi-an£es- thesia, a facial anesthesia, or associated with some form of paralysis, perhaps the less said about it for purposes of diagnosis the better. 247. All sorts of an£esthesia are met with in disease of the pons ; difficult to explain because we know so little of the course of sensory fibres in this situation. 248. Examination of sputum for pus micro- scopically is of no use, for the naked eye appreciates the only important fact, that is to say, the amount of pus, whether great or small, and not its mere presence, which may always be presumed. 249.
