    Will, I think, difcovcr an effential Difference between them. The fame I think may be faicl of the Sore Throat and Scarlet Fever, which fhewed itfelf at Edinburgh in 1733 (g). Tournefort, in his Voyage to the Levant (h), feems to have met with this Difeafe in the Iflands of the Archipelago ; at leaft fo far as * one can judge from the imperfect Defcription We have of it. His Account is as follows. cc When we were in this Ifland (Milo) *c there raged a terrible Diftemper, not un- *c common in the Levant: It carries off Chil- <c dren in twice 24 Flours: It is a Carbuncle cc or Plague-fore in the Bottom of the Throat* 5C attended with a violent Fever. This Ma- <c lady, which may be called the Child’s cc Plague, is epidemical, tho’ it fpares adult <c People. The beft way to check the Pro- <c grefs of it, is to vomit the Child the Mo- “ ment he is perceived to grow heavy-headed. ic This Remedy muft be repeated, according u as there is Occafion, in order to evacuate *c a Sort of Aqua jortis, that difeharges itfelf 54 on the Throat.
