The Solution t£ of Liquid Styrax in Brandy is an excellent Gargarifm upon this Occafion. Tho’ it is lt a Cafe that requires the greateft Difpatch, sc the Levantines are feldom much in Hafte <c in the Cure of any Difeafe.” This Account does not difagree in general with that which has been left us of the Mor¬ bus Jtrangulatorius; only he is Angular in af- ferting it to arife from a Kind of Aqua fortis difcharged upon the Parts: But his favourite Study had ingroflfed his Attention, and to this we muft impute both the prefent Miftake, and his Want of Accuracy and Precifion too frequently, when he treats upon medical Subjeds. When it firft broke out in the Countries above-mentioned, it foon engaged the Phy- iicians of thofe Times, as well to obferve its Nature, Effeds, and whatever might contribute to its Cure, as to vindicate their re- fpedive Syftems and Opinions; and out of fuch of the Trads then publifhed as I have had an Opportunity of perufing, the follow¬ ing Account of it, as it appeared at that Time, has been colleded.
