Of these, eight were bulk samples, four of which resulted in Brucella Abortus being isolated, and it became necessary to carry out quarter sampling of the milk (which was farm bottled Tuber¬ culin Tested) from the herd concerned to ascertain which were the affected cows. 292 such samples were submitted for examin¬ ation, of which 36 were “ positive i he milk from this farm was sent to a dairy in Brighton where the Health Department of that town made an Order so that all the milk was heat-treated before sale. This Order was not removed until this Authority were satisfied that the affected cows had been isolated from the herd. In fact, five cows were removed and slaughtered. SCE CREAM The control of the sale and manufacture of Ice Cream under the Ice Cream (Heat Treatment) Regulations 1947, again proved generally satisfactory.
