During the absence of the Surgeon of the establishment, the whole responsibility of that appointment has sometimes for several months been deputed to him, and they could not but admire the steadiness and perseverance with which he performed its onerous duties, and the extensive store of soundly practical Surgical knowledge and experi¬ ence which he brought to his allotted task. Fully impressed with this feeling, they desire to express their entire confidence in him, as a well educated and accomplished Surgeon, and to recommend him in the most forcible manner they are able as a Gentleman well fitted in every respect by qualifications, both moral and professional, for election to any Surgical Office in a Public Insti¬ tution. EDWARD BALLARD, M.D. A. P. STEWART, M.D. C. J. COX, M.D. Physician Accoucheur. 26, Burton Crescent, Nov, 2nd, 1846. v [No. 12.] I have great pleasure in bearing testimony to the superior pro¬ fessional attainments and excellent abilities of Mr. Norman. As a practical Surgeon, I can with great confidence recommend him for the Office he solicits in the Marylebone Dispensary. If elected, he will prove a great acquisition to the Institution. J. W. FISHER, Surgeon-in-Chief to the Metropolitan Police Force. Upper Grosvenor Street, Nov. 11, 1846. [No. 13.] I have known Mr. Burford Norman for several years, and I have great pleasure in bearing testimony as to his abilities as a Surgeon. I consider he is capable of treating any case in Surgery, and I doubt not that eventually he will take a distinguished position in the ranks of our profession.
