Political reafons, however^ refpefling the prefervation of the trees, which produce fo important an article of commerce, will, it is to be appre- hended, effedtually deter the inhabitants from every experiment of this na- ture. A very eminent Druggift, who pur- chafed a large ffiare of the above cargo, affures me, that many of the Apotheca- ries whom he has fupplied with the Red Bark, and who have carefully com- pared its effedts with thofe of the com- 'mon cortex, make no fcruple of decid- ing in its favour.
