Let me difplay a Chriftian fpirit, And try to lift a lame dog o’er a ftyle. - * / Though not, like Erlkine, in the law a giant, I muft take up the cudgels for my client. Know by thefe prefents, then, ye noify crew, Who at his blufhing honours * look fo blue, * Blujhing honours—the author undoubtedly means the epithet blufhing to be underftood as fynonymous with blooming, and not in a fatyrical fenfe: God forbid that the friend of Sir Jofeph ftiould mean otherwife!
