Eight districts reported epidemic outbreak, against 12 in the previous year including some visited by floods. Over 7,84,000 tablets of Mepacrine and quinacrine hydrochloride £,57,400 tablets of Paludrine, 32 lbs. of quinine sulph. and 17i lbs. of cinchona febrifuge were issued free of charge out of Government stocks. Malarial surveys and investigations were carried out in 11 places, and advice rendered for control measures. Treatment schemes with quinine-plasmoquine and cinchona piasmo- quine were in operation in 211 villages of Terai and Bhabar Govern¬ ment Estates—an hyper-endemic area for malaria. The estate also dis¬ tributed anti-malarial drugs to its tenants free of charge as a measure of relief against malaria. Special Anti-malaria Units. Out of six units sanctioned only two were functioning at the end of the year for lack of staff. An Anti-malaria Unit was established at Kicha in Naini Tal district in connection with Terai Colonisation Scheme.
