![ithis fact is practically well known to medical imen and nurses; and the phenomena accom- [panying calculus in the bladder, and diseases cof the urethra, appear to prove that it is also applicable to the urinary organ.* Section IV. It is a strong confirmation of the truth of tthis doctrine, that labour comes on soon after [the contents of the womb, in consequence of Ihe obliteration of the neck, are admitted into 'contact with the orifice: if the due pressure Df insensible contraction be now superadded, labour immediately commences. Another confirmation is, that labour may ]oe excited at an earlier period than natural by an adventitious stimulation of the mouth of Ihe womb.
