Davis when he bought Tavistock House from the author in 1860,” and an Auto- graph Letter from Charles Dickens, and another from his daughter, Mamie Dickens, both relating to the sale of Tavis- tock House se This desk is believed to be the one Charles Dickens used in his study, and upon which many of his novels were written. At the death of Mr. Davis it passed into the possession of his daughter, the present owner. Other Properties. square, from the room in which Charles Dickens last wrote at his house in Gad’s Hill; a framed Photograph showing room with stool, and two other Photographs This stool was purchased at the sale of Charles Dickens’ effects at Gad’s Hill by Mr. E. Banes, July, 1870, and has remained in his possession until the present time. See letter accompanying from a lady who was at the sale with Mr. Banes when he bought tt. front and sides handsomely ornamented with hand carving, and a small brass plate fixed in the centre with Daniel O’ Connell engraved upon it size 3 ft. 4in. high, 2 ft. 3 in. wide, and 1 ft. 10 in. deep This desk, which is said to have formerly belonged to the late Daniel O’Connell, appears to have been offered for sale on two previous occasions, first at Dublin, where it was pur- chased by a Dungannon gentleman, and later at Armagh, when the present owner secured it at the Dundas sale last May.
