![months. In December had several attacks of diarrhoea, with refus; j of food; died, 15th Dec. P.M.—Fluid in cavity of pleura, and j oz. in pericardium. Lungs : Both congested at bases, miliaii tubercle in upper lobes, cavity at left apex. Heart enlarged, rigl j side filled with fibrinous clot, binding down the curtains of tl valves. Brain, normal; left olfactory nerve atrophied, and lookin like a slender white thread. Case X.—C. B., Female, setat 59, Cli. Mania.—Phthisic j for one year, the final breaking-up being very rapid. Died Marti 16th, 1869. P.M.—Lungs saturated with tubercle, and hollowu into numerous large cavities ; both upper lobes reduced to me; thin-walled cysts containing pus. Case XI.—M. M‘K., Female, setat 63, Ch. Mania.—Mam 15—Appeared ‘‘stupid,” and could not find her place at tabli restless; got out of bed twice during the night and fell dow bruising herself. March 16—Complains of headache and cram]! face drawn to right side; when standing or walking leans a turns to the left; tonic contraction of flexors of left arm, speet hesitating, expression vacant, sphincters relaxed, anaesthesia of LI arm and leg. March 17—Pulse full, hard, and bounding, persp' ing freely, only partially conscious, cannot swallow, loss of pow in left side, right arm rigid. March 19—Right arm relaxed, a moved to the head occasionally; said “Ho” in answer to a questk; more sensibility in left side. March 20—Seems more roused a intelligent. March 22—Perfectly unconscious, and anaesthel: pupils contracted. Died March 23d. P.M.—Brain: Veins a; sinuses congested, considerable sub-arachnoidean fluid. In i. right ant. lobe an abscess as large as a walnut, full of thick pus, i\ ventricle full of pus and serum, and a sinus led into another cavj in the post, lobe, which measured 2-i- inches long, by 1^ in. de and 1 in. broad. Around both, the brain substance was softer t and sanguineous, without trace of membrane. In the left a, lobe, an abscess as large as a small hen’s egg, the ventricle fil with flaky serum. Two small fibroid tumours attached to fun; of uterus, and another small pediculated tumour of similar struct i attached to the left ovary. Case XII.—J. M‘K., Male, jetat 35, Mania.—In Febru- began to suffer from diarrhoea and sickness, with some abdomi: pain and tension. These symptoms increased; he emaciated tc extreme degree, his food passing through him undigested. I April 16th. P.M.—Peritoneum and mesenteric glands evo where tuberculous, and the whole abdominal contents glued in mass.
