Pasted inside the upper cover is the 'Ex-libris Thomae Gueulette', who is Thomas Simon Gueullette [1683-1766], playwright and novelist, who had a private theatre at his estate at Choisy-le-Roi. He may possibly be the compiler of this collection, as he was a writer of fairy tales. On the verso of the first fly-leaf: 'Ouvrage que Mr. Clauzeaux fils, libraire sous les Halles m'a fait venir de Paris en septembre 1857. Coûte 100 frs. Appartient à Fr. Charrier graveur, No. 5 Place de la Brèche à Niort'.
