Description
This film demonstrates chest rehabilitation at the Brompton Hospital. and shows a variety of techniques employed in the treatment of bronchiectasis in adults and children, both before and after pneumonectomy or lobectomy, including postural drainage (using a Nelson Bed); percussion of the chest; chest and diaphragm muscle exercises, and posture training. Also shows measurement of chest expansion during exercises, and of lung capacity using a spirometer. It starts with footage of a man who requires postural drainage and diaphrammatic breathing exercises. This is followed by a boy of 12 with scoliosis. Repeat footage of the female patient from reel 2 and then repeat footage from reel 1 of the male patient aged 37 years old followed by exercises. There are instructive intertitles throughout.
