Some of the scenes are excessively droll, and others as touching. It re- minds us of some of Smollett’s best novels.” Warwick Advertiser. “ The author of this little work describes it as being founded on his own personal experience and that of acquaintances who are stammerers. Many of the adventures related wear a somewhat melodramatic air; but upon the whole the narrative is decidedly clever and amusing. Whether the writer’s encomiums on the specified method of curing stammering are just, can only be de- termined by experiment.” Portsmouth Guardian. “The most wearisome of afflictions is undoubtedly that of stammering.
