Sinclair (formerly F. G. Heathcote), M.A., F.L.S., Trinity College, Cambridge. (Plates XXX.-XXXII.^ When my friend Mr. Harmer asked me to report on this collection of Myriapods, I hesitated to undertake the task on account of my want of experience in species-work. I could not, however, resist the temptation of making acquaintance with several forms that I have long wished to examine, so I acceded to his request, and have found the work most interesting. The fact that the places from which the specimens were collected are all new ground, renders it necessary to describe many forms as new species; but where it seemed at all possible to me to do so, 1 have described specimens as varieties rather than species, and this I have done deliberately, because a study of the literature has ^ For explanation of tiie Plates, see p. 532.
