    Massage in Poisoning. Massage is undoubtedly of much value in the treat- ment of many cases of poisoning-, both acute and chronic. I would especially recommend it in acute chloral poisoning- as a means of maintaining- the temperature of the body. It is, I am sure, unne- cessary to remind my readers that we technically recognise two forms of chloral poisoning-, the chronic and the acute. When chloral is taken habitually as a sedative as many ladies take it night after night during- the season, and it produces injurious effects, we speak of it as chronic chloral poisoning, or chloral tippling. When, however, a large dose is taken with suicidal intent, and the patient is in danger of losing his life, we call it an acute case.
