![cervix being in a state of ulceration. She had been taking calomel and cicuta, under the direc- tion of her medical friends, who considered her case a cancerous affection of the uterus. The rectum had never before been even examined. I advised an enema of warm gruel with twenty drops of laudanum every night and morning, the daily use of castor oil, and the hip-bath, with occasional loss of blood by cupping, from the region of the loins.
