![object glass, but they may be well studied by the aid of a twelftb magnifying 600 diameters. The nature of the particles is still doubtful. They closely resemble in most of their characters the mintite spores of fangi. Their motion, however, is not due to the particle itself, but is evidently secondary, resulting from the movement of the fluid in which they are suspended. It is possible these minute particles may be the agents concerned in the very rapid conversion of starch into sugar which the saliva is known to effect.
