Davis Method of Curing Smoky Chimnies. teen years from the date of the said Letters Patent next and immediately ensuing, and fully to be compleat and ended according to the Statute in that case made and provided; in which said Letters Patent there is contained a proviso obliging me, the said John Davis, by an instrument under my hand and seal, to cause a particular description of the nature of my said Invention, and 5 in what manner the same is to be performed, to be inroiled in His Majesty’s High Court of Chancery within one calendar month next and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent, as in and by the same (relation being there¬ unto had) may more fully and at large appear. Davis, do hereby declare that the said Invention consists and is performed in manner following, viz1:— First, cube the room where the chimney is smokey, and according to the dimensions thereof a machine or double air vessel made of either iron, copper, tin, and all other metallick bodies, and likewise of stone, brick, tile, and every 15 other thing that will resist the fire. This machine or air vessel is placed behind the back of the range or grate, as it may be wanted, and is made of such dimensions so as to contain a certain quantity of air sufficient for the size of the smokey room, and which machine or air vessel is particularly described in the Drawings in the margin of these Presents, and for a full explanation of which 20 I particularly refer. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the Tenth day of February, in the twenty-fifth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, and in the year of 25 our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty-five. JOHN DAVIS, (l.s.) AND BE IT REMEMBERED, that on the Tenth day of February, in the year above mentioned, the said John Davis came before our said Lord the King in His Chancery, and acknowledged the Specification aforesaid, and all and 3.0 everything therein contained and specified, in form above mentioned. And also the Specification aforesaid was stampt according to the tenor of the Statute made in the sixth year of the reign of their Majesties King William and Queen Mary of England, and so forth.
