Marey, by an ingenious experiment (op. cit., p. 416), has obtained the trace of the ventricular systole (in a horse), which is figured below. In the diagram (Fig. 1), the dotted continuation indicates Fig. 1. the traces of the ventricle, while the unbroken line shows the form which the arterial pulsation should possess in senile degeneration of the vessels.
