On one or two occa- sions I have felt compelled to dissent from the opinions of the Author ; in such cases my views are expressed in notes, which are distinguished from those of the author by the signature, Ed. Hoping that the work may prove useful to medical students, and especially that my own class may re- ceive this attempt to promote their improvement, with the same kindness with which they have re- warded my previous labours.
