Through every opening in the batter’d walls,, The brave defendants show’r the deadly balls,. While slaughter’d hosts the furious conflict tell, Not those can enter, nor can these repel,, Horrific mortars now their charge explode, Through the lorn roof descends the ponderous load,, * ' * A * , V'$
