    Annual Report on the Medical and Health Department 1946 L—Administration Dr A. Rankine proceeded on vacation leave on the 4th December, and Dr. L. R. du Verge, Medical Superintendent, Victoria Hospital, was appointed acting Director. Dr. R. Pilot continued to act as Deputy Director. The following new appointments were made— Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr. J. M. Fitton, f.r.c.s. on the 26th May. Medical Officers: Dr. H. Noorooya and Dr. J. Pablot on the 18th February and the 4th December respectively. Dental Surgeon'. Mr A. H. M. Osman on the 14th February. Nutrition Officer : Miss C. Chettle on the 11th October. Matrons : Miss D. White at Mental Hospital on the 14th February, Miss G. Davies at Civil Hospital on the 4th December. Physiotherapists : Misses N. A. S. Hughes and M. ]. Warn at Floreal Hospital on the 4th May. Rehabilitation Officer: Mr. F. J. Graham on the 11th October. Drs. P. Bouton an*d A. Ng Chhung Hin were employed as Medical Officers in a temporary capacity. Dr. H. Cumpston, Superintendent Floreal Hospital, left the Colony on termination of engagement on the 12th April. Dr. G. Sippe, Pathologist, left the Colony on the 9th February, on leave prior to retirement. Dr. E. Brunei, Medical Officer, Mental Hospital, proceeded on leave on the 3rd August, and Dr. H. Andre, Government Medical Officer, Pamplemousses, on the 27th December. Miss I. Rogers, Matron Mental Hospital, left the Colony on leave prior to retirement, on the 25th February. Miss E. Duhau, Matron Civil Hospital, went on leave on the 4th October, prior to retirement. During 1946, ten male and eleven female hospital students qualified as dressers and nurses. Twenty six male and forty four female hospital students were enlisted Jiorjtraining.
