$X. That the benefit to the patient himself, if it exist at all, is not the only question; but the question is, whether this doubtful advantage ought to be pur- chased by the danger to which both the attendants and the patients are, by the abolition of all restraint, exposed. XI. That when a patient is forced into a secluded room or Cell, it is essentially coercion in another form, and is attended with quite as bad a moral effect as any that can arise from mechanical restraint.
