    of your esteemed President, to take a broad survey of enlarge¬ ment upon a comprehensive basis, and obtain plans for what, with the present rate ol increase in population, must eventual! >- become a much larger Institution. The Extension Committee has already got to work, and given instructions for the prepara¬ tion ot a draft plan, and although the details will require careful consideration lor development before adoption, the Board wishes to emphasise the fact that part of the work at any rate must be taken in hand without loss of time, the most pressing and urgent need being the provision of a Casualty Ward, and a general Waiting Room. Relying upon the goodwill, the hearty support and liberality of the kind friends in Clacton and District as evidenced in the past, the Board feels confident that the raising of the necessary Fund for the work will meet with a generous response, both in Donations and by the organisation of all kinds of entertainments, and the fact that Mrs. H. J. Grant has once again most kindly undertaken the responsible position of the “ Extension Fund ” Secretary, ensures, in a great measure, the success of the .Scheme. It is pleasing to note that she has at the present moment £2oH 17s 3d in hand as a nucleus of the Fund, and the co-operation of such an excellent body of workers, as she can always relv upon, encourages her to go forward. Attention is drawn to the fact, that in accordance with a resolution passed at the last Annual Meeting, the word “ Cottage ” has been deleted from the Title, and the Hospital is now known as tne “ Clacton and District Hospital,” but like all good names it has proved a ‘ Die-hard ” ; the change in th^ name, however, should be noted by Subscribers and others when drawing cheques to its credit. NEW OFFICE ACCOMMODATION. The amount of clerical and administrative work for the Hospital having considerably increased, it was found necessary to find more suitable offices, and your Finance Committee, to¬ gether with other members of the Board, made an inspection ot rooms to let at Halifax House, 43, Station Road, and having made a favourable report to the Board of Management, it was agreed to rent two rooms from the “ Halifax Building Society,” the terms and conditions being incorporated in a properly con¬ stituted legal agreement. The offices are in a central position and the cost to the Hospital exceeds by very little that of the original office,
