Description
Identified as Lady Charlotte Campbell (subsequently Lady Charlotte Bury) in the British Museum catalogue, loc. cit. At this time Lady Charlotte Susan Maria Campbell (1775-1861) was a well-known society beauty with a taste for idiosyncratic costume. "In 1810 Lady Charlotte was appointed lady-in-waiting in the household of the princess of Wales, afterwards Queen Caroline, and began keeping a diary, in which she recorded the foibles and failings of the princess and other members of the court" (Oxford dictionary of national biography). The diary was published in 1838. She also wrote novels
