(SON OF THE OWNER OF TH PRECEDING LO’). ——_—_— -___- REYNOLDS (Sir Joshua) AUTOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT JOURNAL of part of his “Journey to Flanders and Holland in the year MDCCLXXXI.” The First Draft from which his notes were copied into the MS. following, covering the stay in Antwerp and containing elaborate notes of the pictures and 13 rough pen or pencil sketches showing the disposition of figures in the pictures he saw. 196 pp. 8vo, of which 115 are written upon (almost all closely filled pages). At the end are some reflexions upon the work of Rubens and Vandyck. Each page of notes bears a single oblique cancellation stroke, vellum, upper cover slightly ink-stained, 64 in. by 3% in.
