Illustrations: This copy is one executed by V£rard for Charles VIII. An illumination on the frontispiece represents him kneeling before a king and queen, with courtiers in the background. This page has a fine border of fleur-de-lys in blue and gold. The next leaf bears on its refto cut No. 17, illuminated, and having a similar border but of inferior execution. Doubt- less an inferior artist was employed when an illumination was used merely to colour and not obliterate a woodcut. Throughout the book are illumina- tions, no doubt covering cuts. Type : No. 3.
