    lunatic belonging to Clifton Union, who has since been re^- moved. The kick caused internal injury, and Dr. Medlicott had to submit to two very severe operations, and his life was in danger. He is now sufficiently recovered to attend to his duties, and it is hoped that he will suffer no permanent injury.' Mr. Dove, who has been for two years assistant Medical Officer, obtained l^ave of absence in July to enable him to make a voyage to Australia for the benefit of his health, and has since sailed in charge of the emigrant ship Salisbury,” to 'Wellington, New Zealand. Mr. Masterton, who attends to his duties in his absence, has so far conducted himself to the entire satisfaction of Dr. Medlicott.
