Description
Left, the Ponte Palatino, looking from the Palatine towards Trastevere. Right, the Isola Tiberina, with Ponte Cestio linking it to the far bank and Ponte Fabricio (Pnte dei Quattro Capi) linking it to the near bank. Right foreground, the ruins of the Ponte Rotto (Ponte Emilio), and on shore, a fisherman laying out his catch to two buyers, while two fishwives stand chatting. In the river are the fisherman's boat, two boats containig big slabs of stone, and a wine-merchant's boat containing barrels shaded from the sun by a vine pergola
