The Original Autograph Manuscript on 193 pp., 4to, handsomely bound in full morocco extra, lettered on side and back. Circa 1835-6. A very valuable manuscript of great interest connected with his work among the Gypsies in Spain. It was printed and published in 1837 and colported by Borrow through Spain. Also the rare Privately Printed Pamphlet (limited issue) edited by Edmund Gosse, in which the Ballads were first printed. 40 pp., 4to, o72ginal wrappers. 1913. Together, Zandsomely bound in full levant morocco extra, lettered on side and back. Small gto. £48 The original manuscripts of these three Ballads translated by Borrow from the Danish; and having in addition the manuscript of an alternative version of the first Ballad. The privately printed pamphlet (of which only 30 copies were issued) contains a long and particularly interesting Introduction by Edmund Gosse dealing with the history of the early Heroic Ballads of Denmark and Borrow’s connection as translator.
