Some moments afterwards he saw robbers coming to take his for- tune from him, assassins armed with knives killing his father and mother, he noticed blood around liim, spectres, and ferocious beasts; they called him the murderer of Montmartre, etc. Later on, in liis convalescence, he perfectly remembered this deli- rium and said, ‘‘ it was a mirage, but it apj^eared quite real to me.” In chronic alcoholism ambitious delirium is of rather more importance, since, in some doubtful cases, it may aid us in recognizing the tendency of chronic alcoholism towards general paralysis.
