![INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOODS. (a) Milk Supply : The work is carried out by Inspector Jenkins, M C.C., who during- the past year has taken the usual number of samples. Informal samples were taken by Inspector Berrington at the request of the County M.O.H. and forwarded to the County Laboratory. Samples were also taken and examined by the County Pathologist for the presence of Tubercle Bacilli, and also for existence of foreign matter. (b) Meat : (1) Inspection. This is carried out daily, and condemned Meat is destroyed (See Inspector’s Report). (2) Administration of the Public Health (Meat) Regulations 1925, as regards stalls, shops, stores and vehicles. Shops and vehicles are regularly inspected and comply with the Regula- tions. The supply of Meat to the Borough is of good quality. For details of seizures, see below. (3) Management of the Public Slaughter-house : The Corporation Slaughter-house is sub-divided into sections, two of which are available to anyone wishing to slaughter animals, the other sections are rented by individual butchers. Slaughter-houses : The Slaughter Houses during the past year have been maintained in a proper and efficient manner. Early in the year 1934 the Electric power to be used in connection with the stunning of Animals prior to the Slaughter was installed in the Public Slaughter Hall, and each of the 7 Private Halls, Sheep and Pig Stunning Tongs being provided, and a Cash Captive Bolt Pistol provided for use in connection with the Slaughter of Beeves, etc., since the installation of this, the nuisance from noise during the slaughtering of the animals has been entirely eliminated.
