![TO TH5 CHAIRMAN AMD MEMBERS OF THE PERSHORE RURAL DISTRICT COUNCIL. 8. MR. CHAIRMAN. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. I have pleasure in presenting my Annual Report on the Sanitary work undertaken by Officers of iry Department during the year ended 31st December 1955* SEWERAGE AND SEWAGE DISPOSAL. The following schemes have been constructed during the year. Kington. „ , „ . Scheme involving pumping, for 30 houses. settlement and aeration, giving capacity Sn 0 0 *] ~ 1 A Scheme for the new council house development and the Hamlet of Sneachill, involving construction of works with capacity for 34 houses, has been commenced. This will abate a nuisance being caused in the roadside ditches. Upton Snodsbury. An extension of the sewer on the new Housing Estate to serve the portion of the village near the Chapel. This will abate a Public Health nuisance in an adjoining ditch. Bishampton. A scheme has been prepared for submission to the Ministry for the provision of a Sewerage Scheme for the village. Lower Moor. A Scheme has also been prepared for Upper and Lower Moor, and part of Wyre, Sandfields. Cropthorne. A Sewerage Scheme for the village of Cropthorne has also been prepared. Pershore. An inquiry has been held by a Ministry Inspector during the year, into the proposed Sewerage _ and Sewage Disposal Scheme for the Town of Pershore. The Ministry have approved the Scheme in principle, subject to the Scheme being re¬ designed to deal with increased population. Pershore (Abbey Grounds) The Disposal Works for the Council's development on the Abbey Grounds is of Insufficient capacity. REFUSE AND SALVAGE. Tipping has been carried out at the old Brickworks, Drakes Broughton. Trouble has been experienced with fires on the tip, due in the main, to the large amount of combustible material in the domestic refuse and the lack of soil for covering purposes. Contracts have been undertaken with the Royal Engineers, Worcestershire Regiment, Ministry of Supply, and Messrs. Farrans for the twice weekly removal of refuse. SALVAGE. The market price of paper increased during the year to £8. per ton.
