Source of Supply for (a) The District Sh'CTION V WATER SUIPLY Tire drinking water is supplied by the Soi.-thar-pton Corporation and is derived frcoi wells sunk into the chalk at Otterbourne, Twyford and Titisbury. This supply is supplercented by water obtained from the River Itchsn at Ctterbou'rne, (b) Shipping The Southampton Corporation supplies al]. v/ater for shipping requirements to the whole of the ScutliaDipton Docks, managed by Bri Transport Docks Board, the wharves at Harchwooo, Tling ano Redbrid on the River Test*, the wharves on the River Itchen*, and the oil ^e at Fawley and Hamble in Southampton Water. ge tties 2. Analysis of Drinking Water supplied to the Docks Special samipling taps are installed at the follov/ing locations within the dock area for the purpose of checking the purity of the wate] supply: (1) Port Health Office (2) Transformer House (3) Pump House Pastern Docks Western Docks ^Bast end) V/estern Docks (’./est end) Samples of water are taken fortnightly from each of t'-ese tap? by the department of the ..'Orough Waterworks Engineer an- lanager ana subiiatted for examination. Analysis of Ships' Drinking Whter 5 samples of drinking water taken from 3 vessels v/ere submitted to the City Analyst for chemical examination, and w-.-re found to be satisfactory. 121 samples of drinking water taken from 3^ vessels were submitted to the Public Health Laboratory Service lor bacteriological examination.
