About this work
Description
By what process does public health knowledge translate into action? This is the question that David McQueen addresses at the outset of this conversation. He looks at the many components of decision making in health. He debates both sides of the argument of whether there is such a thing as a science of health promotion and looks at the need and importance of developing indicators of health promotion outcomes. The idea of imposing strict measurement criteria is quite complicated and Dr McQueen provides a number of insights in this central issue. Finally he examines the relationship between health promotion and the determinants of health and discusses the relationship between prevention and public health as it is experienced every day inside the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
