    Another ftill more frequent, and yet more obfcure attack of this dif- eafe is, that of the mefentery. Innu¬ merable are the patients who fall vic¬ tims to this attack in the early months of their infancy. In this cafe, the firft difcoverable fymptom will be, that of irregular evacuations, unna¬ tural in colour and confiftence, which will be attributed to almoft every caufe but the true one : foon after¬ wards the belly will be found to be too large, and hard to the feel; ac¬ companied with a liftleflnefs, ar.d difinclination to take any exercife.
