![Dudes, which if we make Confidence of* it will no doubt tend to our own Advan¬ tage, and prompt us to this excellent and important Duty of Charity to the Poor. After all I have read and written about Charity to the Poor, and have hitherto in¬ timated, that it is for Widows and old People* that are, or may be in great Need and Diftrefs, I muft acquaint my Reader, that I could never fatisfy my ielf, that I could be anfwerable if I fhould fay nothing for Orphans and poor Children, either fuch as have no Parents alive, or fuch as have Parents, but are in fuch low Circumftan- ces, that they can neither give them Edu¬ cation to fit them for letting out in the World, nor have Means to beftow to get them taught either Religion or Virtue; and no doubt, it is the Duty of us all to do fomething for fuch Children; for it is cer¬ tain where ever the Lord is pieafed to caft fuch an Orphan*s Lot, either in City or Parifb, he faith to that City or Pariflb, Bring up that Child for me, as Pharaoh's Daughter faid to Mo/es's Mother : There¬ fore I hereby intimate, it is the Defign of iome, in and about this City, to contri¬ bute fomething for the Education and teach¬ ing fuch Children as before mentioned, to be ufefu] in their Generation, and as focn as poffible, to ere£t an Orphans HofpitaL !
