Dr Alley asserts, that he had seen “ that eruption appear over the entire body of a boy about seven years old, for whom but three grains of calomel had been pre- scribed ineffectually as a purgative.” Many other instances of violent effects from a small dose of mercury might be cited.—Besides, the following case seems to prove, that mercury may remain inert for a considerable time in the habit, and after- wards, by some inexplicable circumstance, may become active.
