A curious book dealing with foods and drinks and giving instructions how to live on the most economical possible diet, mainly vegetarian. There is a section on unusual substances than can be employed for making bread. There is a chapter on hunting and falconry. Belley, Louis Bailly, 1892 £4 4s 8vo. A very fine copy in the original dust wrappers, entirely uncut and unopened. Extremely rare original edition of one of the most charming books in the history of gastronomy. The author was a native of Belley, Brillat-Savarin’s native town and collected all the gastronomic traditions that 13 survived in that district through the 19th century, It was printed in a small town and probably only very few copies made up the whole edition. 195 Thompson (Sir H.)
