The Compagnia della Lesina was a company formed to practise economy, largely in the matter of food. Polished calf. 12+456+23 pp. Very rare and comprehensive work. Part I deals entirely with cookery, with a few medical receipts ; Part II with sport, hunting, coursing, setting and shooting, angling, fishing, and gardening; Part III with agriculture. Very fine copy, except that last line of title-page, with date, is cut away. 106 La Contre- Lesine ou plustot Discours Constitutions et Louanges de la Liberalité ... augmenté d’une Comedie intitulée Les Nopces d’Antilesne ouvrage du Pasteur Monopolitain et traduit nouvellement de Italien. Gautier on title showing a woman representing Plenty, surrounded by culinary utensils. A rare French edition of one of the numerous Italian facetiae supposed to have been written by the ‘‘ Anti- Economy ’’ guild. It deals entirely with eating and drinking, and includes a comedy in which all the characters are lovers of good fare. A fine copy. de 107 La Guisiniére Bourgeoise suivie l’Office.
